Keep your network running like a well-oiled machine.
PCs are complex machines, with plenty that can go wrong. Worse, small problems can grow and become big ones- meaning that data loss that was avoidable yesterday can become irrevocable today.
Without someone ensuring your network's health, you are setting yourself up for disaster.
Click here to view an example Maintenance Checklist. This is an example of the steps we take to maintain Windows-based workstations. We have experience maintaining other platforms as well, however, including Mac OS X, various flavors of Linux, Windows Server, and more.
Maintenance Steps
Our process is always evolving. We keep track of current best practices so you don't have to. An example maintenance session on a Windows-based PC might include the following steps:
- Defragmentation
- Files
- Directories
- Page/swap file
- Registry hives
- Cleanup
- Old temporary files
- Hotfix uninstallers
- Broken shortcuts
- Dangling registry pointers
- Empty recycle bin
- Malware (spyware, viruses, etc.) removal
- Testing
- File system and surface scan
- RAM test
- Atomic clock sync
- Updates
- Microsoft Update
- Microsoft Windows
- Microsoft Office
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Microsoft Visual Studio
- Sun Java Runtime
- ActiveState ActivePython Runtime
- Adobe Flash, Shockwave and PDF Reader
We're more efficient.
Why are we more efficient?
- Licensed to redistribute
- We have licensing agreements with Adobe and Sun. This allows us to redistribute their software, bypassing the inefficient web-based delivery method.
- Experience
- We know what tools work best, and how and when to use each.
- Exclusive software
- Various gaps exist between current tools. We've filled many of them in with our own software. This software is not available for licensing or sale; only Synset Technologies employees may use it.
- Enterprise methodology
- We manage many different networks. This makes it more "worth it" to do things like develop custom software to deal with a recurring problem or repackage a piece of software with custom deployment settings.
